Build, troubleshoot and repair industrial controls, instruments, production machinery and related equipment
Rock of Ages Manufacturing Division
Troubleshoot machinery failures: Electrical hardware (sensors, wiring, computer, software issues)
Troubleshoot data systems: Data collection & Network
Install new control systems: Machinery, Data collection & Network
Build control panels: Mounting hardware & Wiring
Programming: PLC & PC
Assist with mechanical aspects of plant and quarry maintenance.
Research new technologies in the control field
Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or no less than 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have strong PC skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to read Visual Basic source code and program structure.
Other Skills and Abilities
This position requires a good understanding of the following:
Electronic test equipment
Mechanical power transfer devices
AC DC circuit fundamentals
Open/closed loop systems
Input devices such as encoders, potentiometers limit switches and proximity switches
Electro-mechanical devices such as motors, valves and actuators
Pneumatics and hydraulics
PLC principles and programming
Relay ladder logic
Digital and analog circuits
Transducers and converters
Interface types including RS232, RS485, USB, Ethernet, IR and 802.11x
Wiring practices as applicable to control systems
Must be willing to work overtime, including some weekends. Must have a valid driver’s license.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb ladders; balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move over 60 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
